Choir

At St Michael and St Wulfad’s we are also very fortunate to have a skilled choir who falls under the tutorage of our Director of Music, Alex Goldsmith. The choir sing at the weekly 10.45 Eucharist on a Sunday, singing the Mass setting and regularly performing Anthems throughout the year. Each Summer, the choir also perform a concert of their own as part of the annual Summer Concert Series.

The church is fortunate to have one of the largest Church choirs in the area, with an even spread across all  4 voice parts (SATB).

If you have ever wanted to sing in a choir, why not give it a go?  Rehearsals take place in church on Friday evenings at 7pm – 8.30pm, and our Director of Music is always available to chat with anybody interested in joining the choir. Interest from all voice parts is welcomed!

Feel free to email our Director of Music, Alex, at directorofmusic.stone@gmail.com

Organ

St. Michael & St. Wulfad’s is truly blessed to have a 3-manual 54 speaking stop Phoenix Digital Organ. In 2003 the church’s pipe organ was condemned and a 2 manual Allen Digital Organ was purchased to replace it. In 2021, the Allen organ was deteriorating so the church pursued a search for a replacement. In March 2022, the Phoenix Organ was installed. The instrument has a concert specification and is effective in performing all repertoire convincingly, as well as accompanying the choir and leading large congregations.

The organ can be heard at every Sunday 10.45 Eucharist. The organ plays a big role in our worship.

The specification of our organ can be found here: Phoenix Organ
