The Parish Churches of

St Michael & St Wulfad, Stone, with

St Saviour Aston by Stone

CHRISTIAN AID SPONSORED WALKat Tittesworth reservoir – Saturday 24th March starting 10am. At least one of the King family is planning to undertake this – extra walkers are welcome, but SPONSORS are needed for this worthy cause!

One of the things that constantly comes out of our parish reviews is a need for more pastoral visiting: of course, with nearly 12,000 folks in this benefice, it would be totally impossible for Sally and I to do any more than we already undertake; but with over 130 Pastoral Offices a year, the need for some kind of follow up is very apparent

And I’m not blind to what folks already do! There are already people who are extremely generous with their time in this way, visiting the sick and bereaved. And did you know we have a small team of people who do nearly all the pre-baptism visiting? These are really great developments – Jesus never meant his Church to become merely the “Vicars” and “Vicar-ed to”! Each of us has gifts from Heaven for the benefit of others and we need to develop them

So, could you join a Pastoral visiting team, meeting those with a need, sometimes being prepared to pray with folks? It doesn’t have to be very demanding of time – just whatever you have available.

With this in mind we would like to invite people to a bring and share lunch in St Michael & St Wulfad’s Church on March 8th  starting at 12.45pm. At that point we would start to talk about some initial preparations for this work and perhaps some sort of training

Lent is traditionally the time when folks talk about “giving something up”; but I have been among you long enough now for you to realise that I am a firm advocate of being much more positive and “doing something new” in Christian terms. If you think this might be something to which you might feel called, do please join us on that date
