The Parish Churches of

St Michael & St Wulfad, Stone, with

St Saviour Aston by Stone

This week’s gospel of the stilling of the storm is a favourite story for many of us. In fact, following a theme in the “Adventurers” group this term, it’s been one that Dennis has recently told the children at St Michael’s school

Dennis told the story from a different angle though:- in fact it was thoroughly interactive. The children were sat on benches arranged into a boat shape – the tallest was made into the mast for the sail and some of the children were inside the boat, ready to be terrified at the storm. “Jesus” was in the stern, fast asleep, naturally. The story was acted out for the parents at the end of the session – together with the children singing a song. For those with small children, you might recognise a faint similarity to “The Pirate Song”

When I was one

I banged my drum

The day I went to Sea

I climbed aboard a fishing boat

The disciples said to me

We’re going this way, that way

Forward and back on

The Sea of Galilee

“Peace, be still

It is God’s will”

And that’ll do for me

So I had best sign this
