It’s that time of year again, with so very much to do: I was slightly dismayed by a note this last week informing me it was “50 days to Christmas.” Of course Advent begins at the end of this month and that will be the real “preparation” for us all
So – have you thought of what you will do in the run up to Christmas? It’s just as important as Lent for Christians – and you know how I think that we need something positive to do at such times. We shall be starting “Christmas countdown” soon with a few simple Bible studies – but if you can’t manage those, why not some simple rule of life at home: a set time to pray every morning, or setting aside time to read the Bible, for instance?
The clock on Knaresborough Parish Church, where I was a Curate, used to bear the legend “Redeeming the time.” It’s a good lesson for us all of course, as well as a quote from Ephesians 5. At a rather special time of year, let us all take the time to think about what’s really important in our lives!
